Some 400 Colombian and Ecuadorean children will meet to discuss peace, and strategies to guarantee the protection of their rights, on November 28 and 29.

The children and young people will gather in the Ecuadorean town of Tulcan at the meeting called 'Children for Peace' where they will address the subject of bilateral peace between their countries.

The announcement of this reunion came Friday from Colombia's Casa de Nariño. It said that the director of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute will participate as a representative of the national government.

The Ecuadorean government will be represented by their Minister for Social and Economic Inclusion, the president of the National Council for Children and Adolescents and the Minister for Security Coordination.

The reunion will take place during the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Children's Rights Convention, to which both countries are party, reported news station CMI.

On Saturday 28 a workshop will be held where participants will listen to testimonies and put together a report in favour of peace across the region.

The main event will take place on Sunday when the children will have the chance to publicize their report, which will be signed by the government representatives of both Colombia and Ecuador.
