Piedad Cordoba does not want media show surrounding hostage release

Colombian Senator Piedad Cordoba declared Wednesday that she was waiting for the government, the Church and the IRC to define their hostage release logistics.

After suffering recent criticism regarding her flirtations with the media the Liberal Senator announced that her sole interest lay with the release of three hostages, who are being held by FARC guerrillas, and that she was waiting for logistics to be agreed between the government, the Catholic Church and the International Red Cross.

The Colombian government Tuesday authorized the IRC and the Catholic Church to begin negotiations with the FARC over the long awaited release of hostages.

Cordoba emphasized that she intended to keep a low profile so as to avoid a big media show. "I have no interest in photographs ... let [the government] call me when they are ready," she added in a report by El Espectador.

Negotiations are currently under way to secure the release of hostages Pablo Emilio Moncayo Cabrera, soldier Jose Daniel Calvo, and the body of Julian Ernesto Guevara. The FARC have some 24 people in captivity, several of whom have been held for 11 years.

if she dopesn't want a media show then why does she continue to run to the press daily? I guess she wants everyone else but herself to shut up.
