Following the approval of Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, former DMG director David Murcia was moved to a Boyaca prison on Monday from where he is likely to be extradited to the United States within days.
Murcia and his former associate William Suarez were moved to the Combita prison, which is in the past served as the last stop for those awaiting extradition to the U.S.
Both Murcia and Suarez are wanted by U.S. Justice to stand trial on money laundering charges.
The two former DMG executives still have five days to appeal their extradition, but Murcia on numerous occassions expressed he wants to be extradited as he claims he was not given a fair trial in Colombia, where he was convicted for numberous financial crimes.
Murcia has been in jail since November 2008 after his arrest in Panama.
Hundreds of thousands of Colombians lost their savings when the company they had invested their money in was shut down by authorities for being a ponzi scheme.
