A spam report revealed that 87% of all emails sent world-wide in October 2009 were spam and Colombia is the eighth largest contributor to this percentage.
According to the report, which was drawn up by technology company Symantec, Colombia has now twice been in this ranking and rose from tenth place to eighth in its production of junk mail.
In Latin America it is Brazil that produces the most spam, some 14% of the world's total, and then Argentina with 3%, followed by Colombia, reported news station RCN on Friday.

... I guess I have to ask what they are calling spam. Colombian's that I know love to send funny e-mails to friends on their e-mail list, their friends then send it on to their friends so it snow balls , but that is not spam to me it is friends sharing, spam is unwanted mail trying to sell you something, or with a virus attached trying to gain access to your computer. |

... @gringomedellin.... you are correct. Spam is the unwanted e-mail that tries to sell you something. Last year the big thing was imitation Rolex watches. Right now it is pharmacueticals from Canada. |
