Colombian Senator Piedad Cordoba on Thursday accused the government of lacking will to advance the release process of hostages held by FARC guerrillas.

According to Cordoba, the FARC are willing to release all 24 hostages, several of whom have been captive for some 11 years. However, the Senator insisted that everything now depended on the willingness of the government for the guerrillas had allegedly already agreed to deliver the captives with government cooperation.

Cordoba further added that the FARC announcement to release Joshua Calvo and Pablo Moncayo is a demonstration of the willingness on their part to cooperate, reported newspaper El Espectador.

Lastly, the Senator highlighted a series of letters sent by the FARC in which they declared their desire to establish a humanitarian agreement and as a result Cordoba called upon the Colombian government to make things run more smoothly for the release of the hostages.
