
Young girls from the Colombian city of Pereira have allegedly been making trips to Central America for the purpose of prostitution, after their parents accepted money in return for their permission.
State organizations specializing in migration first raised the alarm regarding the trafficking of the girls to Panama and other Central American countries. This practice has been attributed to the immense poverty of the families involved. Pereira the capital of the small Risaralda department capital located in Colombia's coffee zone, between Bogota and Medellin.
There will be a forum held Monday by the Secretariat of Risaralda regarding the risk of human trafficking, and the issue will be covered extensively with visiting NGOs, reports Caracol Radio.
