FARC release proof of life videos of hostages

Colombia news - Hostage videos

Colombia's largest rebel group FARC released proof of life videos of two members of the security forces currently held by the guerrillas. Several families were expecting to receive material to prove their loved ones are still alive.

The families of a soldier and a policeman held in the jungle were shown a video of their kidnapped relatives.

The two hostages speak while seated at a table and in emotional messages express hope of being freed.

Colombian army Cpl. Salin Sanmiguel Valderrama has been held since May 2008 by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, while police Maj. Guillermo Solorzano Julio was captured in 2007.

According to Venezuelan news broadcaster Telesur the videos were recorded in July

Opposition Senator Piedad Cordoba had earlier said she was expecting to receive proof of life of eight hostages.

The material is to be delivered to the Senator by messengers.
