Ecuador PG receives alleged diary of 'Raul Reyes'

Colombia news - Raul Reyes

The Ecuadorean government announced Wednesday it handed documents to the country's Prosecutor General's Office that Quito say are part of slain FARC commander Raul Reyes' diaries.

According to the country's Minister of Government, Gustavo Jalkh, and the Ecuadorean Foreign Minister Fander Falconi, whorefuse to say for certain if the documents are valid or false, say they gave the supposed diaries to the "competent authority" to offer "absolute transparency" and take "appropriate legal action."

The diary explicitly mention formed Ecuadorean Minister of Security Gustavo Larrea and former undersecretary of Government Jose Chauvin, who are accused by Colombia of having been emissaries of the FARC in the government of Rafael Correa.

Journalists in Quito received copies of the alleged diaries of the FARC commander, who died in a Colombian attack on his Ecuadorean camp on March 1, 2008.

Ecuador did not say where the alleged diary came from.
