Europol and Colombia to fight FARC together

 colombia news - Europol

European Police organization Europol will help Colombia in the fight against the FARC and other guerrilla groups, European terrorism coordinator, Gilles De Kerchove, said Wednesday evening.

De Kerchove announced during a meeting with President Uribe in the Casa de NariƱo that EU ministers approved a cooperation between Colombia and Europol to share information about guerrillas movements in European countries.

"I will ask the Director of Europol to arrange a meeting at the Europol headquarters in Den Haag about the activities of the FARC outside Colombia," De Kerchove said.

The terrorism coordinator recalled that the EU included three illegal armed organizations of Colombia in its list of terrorism: FARC, ELN and AUC.

Supporting organizations like the FARC is a crime in Europe, the official said. "... we must strenghten international cooperations, exchange of information and intelligence," De Kerchove added.
