FARC release two hostages

Colombia news - hostages

Two Colombian engineers, who were kidnapped by the FARC in November 2008, were released by the rebels Thursday.

Colombian authorities found Lina María Mogollón Vargas and Sergio Antonio Cobos Gómez on a road in the east Colombia Arauca department.

The two engineers had been kidnapped near the oil field in the same department where they worked.

It is not known if the company the two worked for agreed to pay a ransom.

The FARC is suspected of holding hundreds of people hostage for extortion purposes.
