colombia news, ah1n1

Colombian authorities Wednesday confirmed another ten new AH1N1 cases in the country and thus raised the number of patients carrying the flu to 185.

The announcement comes less than one day after the confirmation of nine other cases.

The patients, one minor and nine adults, are allowed no visitors and are recuperating.

Since the break out of the virus, Colombian authorities issued an alert for possible swine flu in 4148 cases. 1795 people are currently considered "suspicious cases" because of symptoms that resemble that of AH1N1.

Seven people died because of the swine flu.

Colombia's Health Minister Diego Palacio Tuesday joined the call of the World Health organization (WHO) and warned that the AH1N1 virus, or swine flu, in Colombia has become unstoppable.
