While Colombia's Health Minister Diego Palacio
Tuesday morning warned that the swine flu in Colombia has become
unstoppable, authorities raised the number of AH1N1 cases by another 9
patients within less than one day.
175 people are confirmed to carry the AH1N1 virus in Colombia.
The new cases are in Medellin (1), Itagui (1), Tunja (2), Facatativa (1), Chinchina (1), Chaparral (1), Bogota (1) and Cali (1).
The patients, three minors and six adults, are allowed no visitors and are recuperating.
Since the break out of the virus, Colombian authorities issued an alert for possible swine flu in 4133 cases. 1873 people are currently considered "suspicious cases" because of symptoms that resemble that of AH1N1.
Seven people died because of the swine flu.
A World Health Organization official said Monday an AH1N1 vaccine should be
available as early as September.
