Ecuador President Rafael Correa Saturday verbally attacked the collective of Colombian "mafia" lawyers that want to sue him before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his alleged ties to the FARC.
The lawyers denounced the Ecuadorean Head of State before the Prosecutor General and want to charge Correa with "international terrorism" in The Hague.
"They do not know how much I appreciate this. Let them take me to the International Court in The Hague and prove who the terrorists are. Here you only find dignity and sovereignty," Correa said.
Correa continued to accuse the Colombian lawyers of paramilitary ties and being involved in ponzi schemes.
The Ecuadorean Head of State said he will prove "who the terrorists are, who are tied to paramilitaries, in which country exists narcopolitics, parapolitics. This does not happen in Ecuador.
"Certain Colombian mafias do not understand that the the Ecuadorean politicians and government are not those they used to be and that here we have dignity and sovereignty and will find the adequate answer to their arrogance," Correa added.
The lawsuit Colombians plan to file against Correa and other members of his administration followed the request to Interpol by an Ecuadorean judge to locate former Colombian Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos, who, according to the judge, must stand trial for his alleged personal reponsibility in a 2008 Colombian cross-border attack that killed the FARC's number two, Raul Reyes, and 25 others.
