Evidence in extrajudicial execution case altered: Inspector General

Colombia news - Soacha suspects

Evidence against eight military officials was tampered, the Inspector General's Office says. The soldiers are accused of having murdered two civilians.

Recordings of hearings were erased and reports of the hearings were altered, the Inspector General's Office's delegate to the case, Raul Gomez Quintero, said Tuesday. He demands a criminal and disciplinary investigation.

The hearing of the 'false positives' suspects was suspended after the altered testimonies.

The eight suspects allegedly killed two men to report them as guerrillas killed in combat. The Prosecutor General's Office is investigating more than a 1,000 murders, allegedly committed by state actors.
