Colombian lawyers to denounce Correa for links to FARC

Rafael Correa

A group of Colombian lawyers announced Monday that they plan to denounce the Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa for his alleged links to the FARC.

The lawyers say that Corea and former Ecuadorean Security Minister Gustavo Larrea collaborated with the FARC, El Tiempo reported Monday.

Investigators allegedly found emails from Larrea to slain FARC's number two leader "Raul Reyes" on a computer seized after the Colombian military bombed a FARC camp just over the Ecuadorean border on 1 March, 2008.

The bombing lead to the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Ecuador and Colombia.

The plan to denounce the Ecuadorean president comes one week after Ecuador ordered the arrest of ex Colombian Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos for his responsibility over the bombing of the FARC camp, in which 25, including 'Raul Reyes' and Ecuadorean citizen Franklin Aisalla died.
