Colombia exceeds 100 AH1N1 cases

Colombian health authorities raised the number of patients carrying the AH1N1 virus, or swine flu, to 101 on Thursday after another eight people were confirmed to have the virus.

The announcement comes less than one day after the confirmation of five new infections.

The new AH1N1 patients are from Cali, Ibague, Pereira and Santa Rosa de Cabal.

The six adults and two minors are allowed no visitors and are recuperating.

Since the break out of the virus, Colombian authorities issued an alert for possible swine flu in 3288 cases. 1491 people are currently considered "suspicious cases" because of symptoms that resemble that of AH1N1.

So far, two people died because of the swine flu.
