Uribe arrives in US for meeting with Obama

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe arrived on Andrews Air Force Base near Washington Sunday for his first official visit to the United States. Representatives of the U.S. security forces were present to welcome the President.

Aside Colombian ambassador Carolina Barco and the director of Colombia's Trade Office in the U.S., Ricardo Triana, only representatives of the Police, the Army and the Air force were present to welcome the President.

Monday morning, Uribe met with Gil Kerlikowske, director of the Office of National Drug Cotnrol Policy (ONDCP) who, according to the Colombian Presidency, promised to visit Colombia in September.

Uribe is set to meet U.S. president Barack Obama Monday afternoon.

According to a White House press release, Obama will meet Uribe for a one-on-one meeting in the Oval Office in the afternoon, followed by a meeting where press is allowed. The one-on-one meeting is scheduled to last half an hour.
