Colombia news - court hammer

Two politicians of the Caldas department Thursday were sentenced to 8 years for links with the FARC.

Antonio Hernandez Alcalde, former deputy of the Assembly of Caldas, and Arney Antonio Tapasco Reyes, former candidate for Mayor of Supia, Caldas, were convicted for the crime of aggravated rebellion, Colombia's Prosecution announced.

The Prosecution established that the two politicians had ties to some guerrillas of the 'Aurelio Rodriguez' front of the FARC. Hernandez Alcalde and Tapasco Reyes signed political agreements with the rebel group.

Both convicts will serve their sentence in the prison of Varones La Blanca in Manizales, the capital of Caldas.
