FARC teamed up with drug traffickers for attack on Valle Police: Governor

Colombia news - Police Cali

Guerrillas of the FARC teamed up with drug traffickers to carry out the attack on a Valle Police squadron Monday, Governor Guillermo Alberto Gonzalez said. In the ambush, seven policemen were killed.

Gonzales told Caracol Radio that the area where the fighting took place -- on the border of the Departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca -- there is a high presence of members of the FARC's Manuel Cepeda front and drug traffickers.

After the deadly ambush, the Colombian Air Force bombed a nearby FARC camp, killing at least 25 guerrillas, regional Police commander Gustavo Adolfo Ricaurte said.

In the raid, the Air Force "possibly" killed local guerrilla commander Juan Carlos 'El Enano' [the midget] Usuga, who is held responsible for several bomb attacks on Cali authorities in the past year.
