AH1N1 count rises to 27 in Colombia


Colombia news - swine flu

Authorities confirmed two new cases of AH1N1 in Barranquilla, bringing the number of cases of the contagious flu in Colombia to 27.

Health Secretary Luis Alexánder Moscoso confirmed the cases. He said on was a 21 year old woman who had just arrived in Colombia from Honduras, the other a 30 year old businessman who had recently 12 days in Miami.

Moscoso said that both subjects were "out of danger".

He said that there are another 8 suspected cases of swine flu in Barranquilla.

The swine flu caused tens of deaths in Mexico, where the virus broke out first, as well as in the United States, Chile, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Worldwide, thousands of people have been confirmed carriers of the virus and are being treated.
