Hostage family asks FARC to release politician

Colombia news - FARC

Relatives and friends of the councilman Armando Acuña, who got kidnapped by the FARC on Friday in Huila, asked the guerrillas to release the politician.

"Since last Friday, we know nothing about his whereabouts. We ask those who have Acuña, to please release him unharmed", fellow council member of the municipality of Garzón, Joselito Guevara, told W Radio Monday.

Nubia Segura, Acuña's wife, said that she and her children are praying a lot so that "everything goes well". She added that the government has not given any details on a rescue plan.

Colombian authorities announced Sunday to offer a 250 million peso (US$114 thousand) reward for the information leading to the guerrillas. President Uribe ordered the armed forces in the region not to leave the jungle until they have found the hostage.
