Re-election is 'inconvenient': Uribe

Colombia news - Alvaro Uribe

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Thursday said his own re-election would be "inconvenient" and said the country has other possible leaders.

Ï see this as inconvenient, to perpetuate a president, because the country has many good leaders," he told a part takers of a forum, organized by UK magazine The Economist, that had last week written the Uribe is tending towards autocracy.

"Personally, I would not like to see the bitterness of younger generations that see me as someone who is clinging to power. I have been a fighter for democracy," he added.
