DMG wants to take part in elections

Colombia news - DMG supporters

Suspected money launderer DMG wants to take part in the 2010 Congress elections, newspaper El Espectador reported Sunday. The party would have its list of candidates for all 32 departments ready.

The initial plans for a broad political movement was started by DMG director David Murcia himself in 2007 and included taking part in elections on local, departmental and state level.

Authorities made an end to the preparations for the elections when they shut down the company and threw all of its executives in jail, but the "DMG-family", the employees and victims of the company shutdown, continued preparations with the blessing of the now incarcerated Murcia.

According to the newspaper, the political movement seeks the support of the suspected seven million Colombians who lost money in in one of the country's collapsed pyramid schemes and is seeking to have 30 senators and an equal amount of Representatives elected, making it one of the biggest parties in Congress.
