Venezuela claims arrest FARC commander

Colombia news - FARC

Venezuelan authorities say they arrested a commander of Colombia's largest insurgency group FARC. Yainer Esneider Acosta Peña, alleged commander of the guerrilla's 45th front, was arrested in the western Zulia state.

According to Venezuelan media, the State's Secretary of Security, Odalis Caldera, said the suspected guerrilla "was taken to the border, where a commission of the DAS [Colombia's secret service] awaited him to take him andconfirm his identity."

The suspect was arrested Thursday in the Villa del Rosario region of Zulia, close to the Colombian border.

According to the secretary, the suspect was dressed as a private guard and worked in a pharmacy at the time of his arrest. He was carrying false identity papers.
