Jara joins Colombians for Peace

Former FARC hostage Alan Jara joined 'Colombians for Peace', the group that brokered his release and seeks a dialogue with the guerrillas.

The former Meta governor  joined the group Tuesday, eight days after his release, in a meeting held in the home of opposition senator Piedad Córdoba.

Jara, who had earlier spoke in favor of a humanitarian exchange of hostages for imprisoned guerrillas, joined the group which seeks a similar deal with the guerrillas to liberate the 22 members of the security forces still held in the jungle. The group also says to aim for the release of those hostages who are held for extortion of their families.

The FARC is suspected of holding in between 150 and 700 civilians hostages for economic reasons.
