Brazil to deliver logistics for hostage release: ICRC

Brazil will be responsible for the logistics needed for the release of six hostages as promised by the FARC in December, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed Friday. The country may even provide the foreign observer.

According to the ICRC, the aid organization is in direct talks with Brazilian authorities about the logistics needed.

Caracol Radio reported that the Brazilians will also provide the foreign observer demanded by the FARC, but this has not been confirmed by any government official. Bogotá has always rejected any foreign interference in matters concerning the FARC and has insisted on a foreign observer provided by the Vatican.

The group says it is now waiting official approval of both the FARC and the Colombian Government to be able to proceed.
