Russia will extradite Yair Klein, a former Israeli colonel and mercenary to Colombia in March, Colombian ambassador to Moscow Diego Tobón said Wednesday.
The diplomat told Italian press agency ANSA that a Colombian delegation will visit the European Human Right Commission in Strassbourg mid February to officially give guarantees Colombia will respect the human rights of the former mercenary.
After this visit Russia will be obliged to extradite the Israeli according to international law, Tobón said.
A Colombian court convicted Klein in 2001 for having trained death-squads of drug traffickers and right-wing militias in Colombia in the 1980s.
