The Colombian Army has announced a new military operation entitled 'Sword of Honor,' a multi-agency effort to destroy the country's largest rebel group FARC, reported newspaper El Espectador Monday.
The two-year war plan, a joint effort of the National Police, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Agriculture, public prosecutors and the Armed Forces, will use more than a hundred specially-trained members of the security forces.
General Alejandro Navas, Commander of the Armed Forces, said, "This is one of the vehicles, one of the pillars of the National Development Plan. For three months we trained 120 men on land, sea and air, to form the basis of Operation Sword of Honor."
The announcement comes at a time when the Colombian government and armed forces have been maintaining a steadfast position over their projected success in defeating the rebels, including an announcement Thursday that they expect to catch FARC leader "Timochenko" in under a year.
