The Colombian Government paid an informant 5 billion pesos (US$2,4 million) for the exact location of the camp of FARC commander Raúl Reyes. The army bombed the camp in March, killing Reyes and 25 others.
Colombian President Álvaro Uribe said in Mexico that thanks to the information received the operation was such a success and advised the Mexican government to adopt combat actions like this to fight its increasing problems with drug trafficking.
The march 1 attack caused strain relations between Colombia and its neighbors Ecuador and Venezuela. Ecuador still refuses any diplomatic ties with its northern neighbor.

... Wonderful News and I hope every FARC member hears it. The fact is the organisation is rotten to the core, people selling each other to the Army like cattle. |

... With all of the equipment that the Colombian Gov has and all of the communtication that Raul was doing I don't believe that money was paid to anyone. I don't believe that he was killed because he was FARC. It would make more sence if the Gov wanted the Russian Arms dealer. The only way they could have gotten him was thur contacts that Raul made to him which led to his arrest. This Russian did not care if you were right or left just that he made money. This is why the killing cycle must stop and if you don't agree with the Gov then form a real political party and make the change. Any communicaion can be tracked and recorded! |

... The fact is a few colombians and gringos are rotten, which makes all of Colombia look like hell and all colombians look like Narco's. Even Miss Colombia, my favorite event in all of Colombia, was screwed up by who she was married to. People get over it. One day all of this will be in the history books and drugs will be legal. All of the killing would have been for nothing. What a waste of life, I dont care if your left or right not one human killed brings good luck. |

... lol, Sam Salmon makes it sound like this is something new and eventful. This has been ongoing for decades, and happens in any war around the globe. Sure the FARC will hear it, but changes nothing for them. |
