Ecuador sent extra troops to its border with Colombia to avoid incidents with incursions of illegal armed groups. Ecuador claims paramilitaries harassed and injured people in town close to the border a few days ago.
According to an Ecuadorean military source quoted by Spanish press agency Efe, the countryhas sent additional troops to conduct "more rigorous checks" in the border area.
The source wouldn't say how many soldiers have been sent to the northern border.
Ecuador accuses Colombia of not securing its border enough and Colombian illegal armed forces and drug trafficking are crossing the border, pressuring and harassing Ecuadorean civilians.

... The countryhas and I told you I sent and have had one on the ground for quite sometime. We are not them. Furthermore we support the country without bias. Meaning that it has to lift them all or not. This is not rag-tag USA and I'll come myself. The beauty of it all is that even my travel expenses have dropped considerably. It has already started. Wait for the elections to run the course so that things can be done. The country isn't the one being let down. That would be someone else. |
