Colombia's Supreme Judicial Council began investigating court workers who, despite the government's state of emergency, refuse to go back to work.
The council started the preliminary investigations that can lead to the suspension of those who continue to join the court workers' union Asonal in their strike for better wages, newspaper El Espectador reported Sunday.
Asonal announced it is still open to negotiations with the government, but will continue the strike, despite the state of emergency called by the government.
Asonal has been able to mobilize 90 percent of the approximately 40,000 court workers in the past few weeks.
The state of emergency allows court workers to be fired if they continue to strike.
The forty day strike has almost completely paralyzed Colombia's justice system and affected hundreds of thousands Colombians who have pending court cases.
