Opposition joins in plot to delay political reforms

Colombian opposition parties Polo Democrático and the Liberal Party knew to delay the debates on political reform after coalition parties took too long returning from a recess and the opposition -- who for thirty minutes had the majority in Colombia's House of Representatives Wednesday, voted to adjourn the subject.

Both opposition parties had earlier presented a list of objections to the government proposed reforms that drasticly seek to reform the country's judicial and political system afterthe judicial branch and executive branch clashed over the involvement of paramilitary groups in Congress.

The coalition, needing more than the 20 granted minutes tointernally discuss what to do with the oppositions objections, were out of Congress when the opposition demanded the session to continue, proposed a vote to adjourn the reform and, enjoying a temporary majority in the chamber, voted in favour of the delay.
