Colombia news - Carlos Ocampo

Carlos Alberto Ocampo Perez, 30 years old, was kidnapped by the FARC on December 27, 2010, in the south of Colombia's western department of Tolima. He was serving as a police escort for the mayor of the town of San Antonio at the time of capture.

Perez is married with two children, both girls.

According to Perez's mother Mery, he was due to finish his time serving in Tolima and transfer to Bogota on 3 January, 2011, where he would begin a promotion course for the position of sergeant.

News of Perez's liberation came as a surprise on Saturday as only five hostages were due to be released this week. He will be the 6th.

President Juan Manuel Santos welcomed news of Perez's addition but reiterated his call for all hostages to be released by the FARC, reported Semana.
