Colombia's ambassador to Caracas Fernando Marín asked the Venezuelan government Thursday to take a stand on the monument for FARC founder Manuel 'Tirofijo' Marulanda that's being built by Bolivarian groups in the Venezuelan capital.
Sources from the Colombian Foreign Ministry yold Spanish press agency EFE the Colombian ambassador paid a visit to Venezuela's Foreign deputy Minister to express his concern about the constructed tribute.
Members of the Bolivarian Continental Coordinate (CCB) told newspaper El Espectador Wednesday they are naming a square after the deceased FARC founder. Tirofijo would also be honoured with a bust on the square.
The statue will be revealed by the leader of the Chilean Communist Party and Secretary General of the CCB, Carlso Casanueva.
The CCB movement, active in many Latin American countries is suspected of being alligned with the FARC. Colombian authorities say the FARC founded the organization and still leads the Bolivarian movement.
