ISA to bid for transmission lines in Guatemala

Colombia news - electricity

Colombian state-controlled electricity grid operator Interconexion Electrica S.A., or ISA, plans to bid for a contract to build and operate transmission lines in Guatemala at the end of this month.

The contract includes six stretches of electricity transmission lines which together represent 826 kilometers, the company said in a filing to the local market's regulator.

ISA's board authorized the company to carry out all the steps to bid for the contract to be granted on Nov. 27. ISA's bid would still depend on market conditions.

ISA is the largest electricity transmission grid operator in South America, with a network spanning more than 36,700 kilometers of lines. Its operations include grids in Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Bolivia. The company is currently working in connecting Colombia with Panama.

ISA shares were up 1.2% in recent trading, to 11,440 Colombian pesos (US$5.83). The IGBC index was up 1.4%. (Dow Jones)
