Colombia's delegation at the Miss Universe election in the Bahamas angrily left the room where the beauty pageant was held after Miss Colombia did not make it to the fifteen finalists, a leading Dutch newspaper reported Monday.
According to newspaper De Telegraaf, the delegations of Mexico and Colombia -- both among the favorites before the main event Sunday -- left the imperial ballroom of the Atlantis resort amid rumors that financial contributions to the event by finalists Venezuela and Puerto Rico had influenced the picking of the finalists.
Venezuela's Stefania Fernandez won the event.

... I think its highly doubtful Chavez paid off the Miss Universe pageant. How paranoid can people get? Just for propaganda purposes rigging Miss Universe would look pretty bad considering it embodies capitalism 100%, Chavez hasn't even mentioned the win, instead he hosted Noam Chomsky in Caracas. Besides hasn't Venezuela always been known for its beauty queens? No real surprise here. Does anyone even watch this show anymore? |
