The city of Madison, capital of the northern U.S. state of Wisconsin, totally stole the idea of reserving city streets on Sundays for pedestrians and cyclists from Colombia's capital Bogota, the local newspaper reported Wednesday.
According to the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, the city will close off six miles of its busiest streets to allow its inhabitants the space needed for some well-deserved physical exercise.
The city's ciclovia is called 'Ride to Drive' and will include live music and art displays along the de-automobilized streets.
"This celebrates what's unique about Madison," community services manager Steve Doniger told the newspaper, conveniently forgetting the original Bogota idea already has been copied by Medellin, Cali, New York and Chicago.
